two weeks in Bristol

First of all, we would like to say that we spent such a wonderful time in our host family as well as in Bristol. We enjoyed being part of a British family for two weeks. We have had very good relations between us, one Austrian student and another one from Spain. Since the first day, we had freedom to discover the city. We were very happy about the fact that our host family offered us several things to do: we visited the Suspension Bridge, went to the theatre, went to Bath, did the Banksy tour and we were also allowed to join a British wedding party!!

Even though both of us are vegetarians, it was no problem for our host mother to cook us every day some tasty and delicious dishes! We enjoyed especially the homemade desserts!

We also learned new things from each other, e.g. taking a Siesta or trying Austrian desserts! These two weeks contained many different cultures, habits and adventures.

Last but not least we want to say thank you to our host family for creating us this wonderful time in Bristol!!! 🙂

4 SUNNY WEEKS IN GLOUCESTERSHIRE

picnic herefordTT

I’VE BEEN FOUR WEEKS IN A LOVELY HOUSE NEAR A TOWN CALLED NEWNHAM-ON-SEVERN AND THE CITY OF BRISTOL. I HAVE BEEN HAVING LESSONS IN THE MORNING AND DOING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS PLAYING TENNIS, SWIMMING AND VISITING TOWNS NEAR HERE. IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO COME YOU CAN DO EVERY ACTIVITY YOU THINK SPECIALLY AT WEEKENDS WHEN YOU HAVE MORE TIME TO DO THEM. I THINK THE WEEKEND ACTIVITY THAT I MOST ENJOYED WAS PAINT-BALLING BECAUSE THE ACTION IT INVOLVES. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD THINGS TO DO AND PEOPLE TO PLAY WITH AND IF WE ADD TO IT THE WEATHER – A PERFECT MONTH.

Trip to Bristol during 2 weeks

Hi,

I am Agnès, I come from France near Geneva, and I am 16.

I was in the Watteau family with Lesley as my English teacher. I was very happy to be there. I met international university students, who spoke English, were very friendly and did a lot of things with me! I made some good friends! These two weeks were too short because I had such a lot of things to do!

I had to do a bit of work for my school, but it was a fantastic holiday too.

I want to thank Lesley and her family for receiving me, and taking so much care of me!

It was really great!

Agnès

family Watteau

Hi! My Name is Alizée, I’m 14 and I live in France. This summer, I went to England for one week from the 26 of August to the 1 of September. I was staying at the Watteaus’ house in Bristol.

Leslie was the teacher. The lessons were very interesting and fitted to my expectations: as I had asked, we focused the lessons on learning idioms and vocabulary about history, geography and literature, as these subjects will be taught to me in English next year. I also read and analysed the beginning of the book Of Mice and Men of John Steinbeck as I will be soon studying it. On two afternoons I went out with Leslie on excursions: we have first been to Mshed, a museum about Bristol’s history and on the second day we visited the hundred-and-fifty-year-old ship, SS Great Britain which was built in Bristol. Both of these excursions were very interesting and fascinating.

On other afternoon I would just take a bus to the city centre and do some shopping, mainly in the cheap centre PRIMARK.

The family was very nice and funny. It was very pleasent to talk with them. The food was very good and there was always enough to eat. The room I was staying in was huge and the facilities very good.

Two funny weeks in Margate !

Hello, we are Audrey and Maria,we come from France and Spain, we are fifteen and we stayed two weeks in Margate, England, a beautiful town in the coast.

We lived with Ella and her family in a lovely house. We arrived the 12th of August. Every day in the morning, we had lessons. In the lessons we did lots of games, a lot of vocabulary, some practice of grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

All the afternoons we went out. During this two weeks we visited a lots of places (Broadstairs, Canterbury, Dover and Margate ) We went shopping, bowling, we played mini golf, went four times to swim in to the sea because the weather was very nice, we went to the cinema, at the museum of Monstrosities, shell grotto, Deal castle, Dover castle, Walmer castle, the Turner Contemporary gallery and we had free time. The food was delicious, Ella is the best cook in the world !

We enjoyed most of all swimming in the sea .

We enjoyed a lot those two weeks and we hope will come the next year.

Great time in Bristol

God save the queens

I’m Loreto Saez Garcia I’m 16 years old and I come from Spain.

I have stayed in Bristol for 2 weeks with Lesley and her family and with my partner Heloise who comes from France.

On the first day the teacher asks you what do you want to improve and your partner has the same level as you. The lessons are entertaining and you learn a lot. You feel that your english is going higher.

During the week we have some days with planed excursions, you aren’t bored never. The family is really kind and your acomodation is well-equiped. The food is nice too and if you don’t like fish or another things you only have to tell it and there isn’t any problem.

Everybody knows about the weather in England so you have to bring with you a coat and an umbrella.

Those two weeks had been amazing and doing this course is when you really improve your level because you aren’t with people who comes from your country and you are speaking english all the time.

If the relationship with your partner is good you will have a friend forever!!!

Good travel to Bristol

working hard!

Hi, I’m Heloise, I’m from france and I’ve decided to go in Bristol for improve my English.

During the week I had 3 hours lesson by day with an other student, Loreto! She came from spain and she’s very nice, we have a good relationship.

The lesson was very good, we have learnt lot of things: verb tense; usual vocabulary… I thinks it’s a good travel to learn English.

At the begining it’s a little difficult to understand the people because the accents is very different than the english teacher in france, but after some day it’s ok.

The family is very nice, they speake slowly and use lot of gestures for helping the student. Lesley is an execelent teacher and make a delicious dinner!!

the family welcome Loreto, me and two other students but we saw her just during the dinner because the day they were in a school.

we had 2 excursions by week. We saw the most famous things in Bristol. the other days, we were  free after noon so we went to the city center ( shoooping, walk, laugh a lot!!).

Bristol is a very beautiful city. Loreto the perfect partner.

A VERY GOOD TRAVEL!!!

Live in Clevedon

Hello!

I am a 17 years student from Spain and I’ve been in Clevedon for three weeks. It has been one of the most incredible experiences that I have had in my entire life, I mean, stay 24 hours in a house where everybody speak other language is very hard, but I have to say that it worth. Yvonne, my teacher, is an friendly woman and very kind, and for me now, is the person who has taught me more English than anyone. During my visit I went to Bristol, Dryham Park, Tyntesfield, Portishead Marina, Weston-super-mare, Bath and also we went one whole weekend to a camping side with a lake. I really enjoyed the time I’ve been here and I have learnt a lot!

Furthermore, I found that Clevedon is a great place to live, even when it’s raining, because is so peaceful, the houses are very British which I really like and from the Pier you see an incredible view of Wales!!

This was my first year and my last one because of my age with Living Learning English, but I must say that if I could I would repeat again!
