My name is Davide Dal Pozzo, I am from Italy. I completed one month course in Professional – Academic English in London. This period was wonderful: I learnt a lot , I really enjoyed the course. Damian is a very friendly and experienced English teacher. We have been to Windsor two times and we also visited Eton’s colleges with the riding school, then Cliveden, an Italianate mansion and estate in the Buckinghamshire and other parks of the National Trust. After visiting many museums and historical buildings in London, I had good time in Oxford, Stratford Upon Avon, Greenwich and other lovely historical places. These excursions played an important part in the comprehension of the history and culture of England. Damian and his family are very kind: conversation with the teacher and family outside lessons was important in the progress I made. I really enjoyed my stay: it seems like to be at home, the family is nice and London is fantastic. The Individual Study Plan proposed to me helped me and the teacher plan the best course: in this way my English has improved more than I expected. Damian is an experienced teacher of English as a Foreign Language and can offer General English, Business and Professional English, Academic English. His main qualifications are MSc Climate Change Impacts and Sustainability and BSc (Hon’s) Degree in Geography / Science. Thanks to Damian’s experience, I could learn a lot about climate change and sustainable energies, very important topics of my jobs. I particularly appreciated the teacher’s patience and availability in explaining various subjects about the United Kingdom history and culture. The course in London enhanced my awareness of British culture, tradition, history and language. For these reasons I think that the period I lived in Britain was certainly excellent. I really enjoyed my experience in London, during these days I had great time and the month has passed very quickly: in my future I would like to meet this nice family again. I’m thinking about coming back to London as soon as possible: I love this city!
I had a four week Business course in St Albans with Kate Irving. It was my first visit to the UK. My main aim was to improve my conversation skills because I have my own business and I need to speak English with my clients. Every day I had lessons for 4 hours and after that I had many socializing activities with Kate’s friends and family. Kate created a useful environment for me to improve my English. The food was excellent – we had many different dishes every day. We visited Cambridge and London. We saw Les Miserables in London. Kate arranged a meeting with a local accountancy company which provides the same services as my company. Finally I had an important meeting with my London branch and they were impressed with my improvement in English. I really enjoyed this experience and recommend this intensive method for business people who have limited time.
The English course at Living Learning was an intense and profitable experience. I stayed at Kathryn’s house which is located in a nice suburb near the centre of the lively University city of Cardiff. My teacher, Kathryn and her husband Huw helped me to improve my English level for business and I had the opportunity to maintain very interesting conversations with them. I had the chance to visit the famous sights of Cardiff: Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Castle, the Wales Millennium Centre, the Cardiff Bay…The course fulfilled my expectations, helping me to develop my self-confidence in using the language in real situations and business terminology and techniques to apply in my everyday life. I am looking forward to having the chance to go back soon. Many thanks and best wishes
I am sending this e-mail to give you my congratulations for the great organization you have. I want to say how productive my course has been and how the teaching system has been a lot better than I even expected. I would also like to say that the family I have been staying with have made my two weeks of stay so lovely. Win, as a teacher, is a very good professional and shows a great interest in her work. Thank you so much for making the experience of learning English evens a very fun one. I would give you an “A”, greetings and will see you soon.”
MY LESSONS My lessons were fine because we covered topics which I was interested in so the lessons were interesting and absolutely not boring. The 3 hours flew past. I could cover and review all the things I wanted to do because we discussed everything. THE SOCIAL PROGRAMME The first day, the family asked me what I would like to visit. I said London and they organized our trip. I’m so happy about this journey to London! We visited everything so the day after I could go back to London alone without having problems. They explained to me how to use the tube. MY FAMILY They made me feel at home, from my arrival to my departure. They are nice, generous, hospitable, great people. My room was comfortable and really light and I like light. This was my first experience alone in a place that I didn’t know and especially with people that I didn’t know and I have to tell the truth: It was a brilliant vacation, a fantastic experience, a great way for fun, to learn English and improve my English. Today I have to go back home and I’m so sad and moody. I would like to stay here in London and with this family and learn more and more other things about the language.
English in Salisbury My name is Dariusz. I’m from Poland. I spent 3 weeks here. They were a very pleasant three weeks. I spoke a lot with John (my English teacher) on many different topics, and it was very interesting. He and his wife Ann showed me a lot fine places. I saw the Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral. We were in the New Forest where there were a lot of wild ponies. I feel my English speaking improved and now it is easier for me to understand what other people say to me. I joined them at a very enjoyable picnic and concert at Wilton House.
I very much enjoyed my stay in Bath near Bristol in October 2005. The family I stayed with was very nice and hospitable. Although I only stayed for one week, I improved by Business English a lot. Besides studying Business English I had the chance to explore Bath and the area with my teacher and by myself. People I met were very friendly and polite.
Since I sometimes need to speak English at my working place in Japan, I decided to learn more English in England. And that was a wonderiful experiance for me to stay at a beautiful stonehouse of Codswolds, having lessons and talking about life of England with a native English teacher . Besides that, I could visit several pretty villages in Codswolds where I really wanted to go. I think that was a great opportunity and I would like to do it again.
