  • Ella Dingley | 16 Dec 2011, 18:06 Margate in November My name is Dasha. I come from Minsk, Belarus. Today is exactly one month that I left Margate. I spent two weeks in Margate and this is what I remember.  We made several excursions in the local area: around Margate old town, including the pier and the new Turner Contemporary Gallery. It was near this gallery that we saw the Queen when she visited Margate a few days later. We visited Dover Castle, including a tour of the wartime tunnels with the hospital and Dunkirk exhibitions, as well as the Great Tower and the Roman lighthouse. Together with my twin sister we visited the beautiful Leeds Castle. We spent a long time inside the castle itself, and then started on the grounds – the maze, where we found our way through the labyrinth and underground grotto, watched a bird display (with three storks – our national bird of Belarus), and looked at the amazing collection of exotic birds in the aviary and visited the dog collar museum there. We visited Canterbury Cathedral where we went to a service and listened to the  boys’ choir singing. We watched Professor Heard’s Curious Victorian Magic Lantern Show which was held in Walpole Bay Hotel in Margate. There was a very special atmosphere: the people around us were all dressed in the costumes of Victorian Britain. We made a few trips to the nearest large shopping centre at Westwood Cross to buy some Christmas decorations. I watched  the 3D film “The adventures of the Tin-tin” in the local cinema and went bowling with Ella’s younger daughter Alexandra. We also went to the Deal swimming pool with waves and a chute.  I went for a dog walk with Jim and Rosa and took lots of photographs of the sea, beach and cliffs with my special camera.

  • Ann Bernard | 8 Dec 2011, 14:13 English in the countryside near the sea We are Albert, from Spain, and Luca, from Italy. We’ve had a great time during the two weeks we’ve been in a rural place near the sea, in West Somerset. In the mornings, we have had lessons and after lunch we have visited beautiful places like Bath, Woolacombe, Bossington, Minehead, Lynton, Watchet and Roadwater. We have also enjoyed going to Roadwater fete, and an amazing barbeque on Saturday night. We have also swam and surfed in the sea on special sunny days. Apart from visits, we’ve cooked tasty dishes like Risotto, Tagliatelle and Spanish omelette. We recommend this course to other students who want to enjoy learning English, want to go to the beach and live in a beautiful landscape.

  • Donna Butler | 1 Nov 2011, 16:02 My stay in Windsor I'm Benjamin Desbois and I'm 13 years old.  I am very happy that I came to England in Windsor.  Why?
Because we went to London to see museums like the Historic one and the scientific one.
My favourite day was when we went to Thorpe Park, a park with loads of rides.
I enjoyed Halloween because in France people don't like it so I discovered it!  It was the first time I went 'trick or treating' down the streets.  The family was very nice, so I would recommend this family for other guys.
Andrew and Charlotte were very cool with me.
So I have completed my contract speaking with lots of English people and discovered the super English food!

  • Ferdinand Borsch | 28 Oct 2011, 17:35 My Trip to Liverpool I spent an amazing week in Liverpool. It is such a beautiful city !
What did I enjoy the most ?
I enjoyed every excursions in the city but especially the excursion to the cavern where the Beatles used to play. They played like 292 times and you still can feel their spirit in the place. This bar is like a time machine : you get down the stairs and arrived in the 60s. It is so cool !
The Beatles museum is to Liverpool what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris : you have to visit it. It is very fun and interesting. I had never been in the yellow submarine before I came there and it is such an experience !
The family I have been living with was very welcoming. Jenny is a marvellous cook and teacher and Austin is such a good guide and also a Beatles encyclopedia. They were very nice to me. Annie, Sam and Adam were very cool too. I really enjoyed my time here with all of them.

The family I was staying with was really kind and helpful. The only annoying thing was the CAT because it bit me sometimes.

I spent Christmas and New Year here, and the lessons here are very good. Also, I have read a novel called The Cinderella Man.    I was surprised that the people in this street are very friendly - with carol singing. The tours in different places are very interesting and instructive. We've been on long walks and I've already visited Stonehenge and a castle in Wales and SS Great Britain. Also, I've been to lots of different museums, which were really perfect!    It is a pleasure to study with Sarah and I spent a fantastic time here!

  • Olena Konstantynova | 12 Nov 2010, 12:53 Unforgettable weeks My son Petro Konstantynov has spent two unforgettable weeks in Guilford, UK. His teacher Andrew Rees is a very friendly and experienced teacher.   Petro has enjoyed English lessons and what is even more important he understood everything and so his level has increased considerably. I do feel  that his pronunciation has changed a lot and it is much more easier to him to study English at school now.  All sports and evening activities were very interesting and useful as it enabled my son to feel the unique British culture. The dates of the course  gave him the unique possibility to celebrate Halloween with the teacher's family and feel the atmosphere of this holiday.  I do believe that these two weeks were not spent in vain and my son returned home with lots of sunny memories and good command of English.  Thank you LLE and Andrew very much!
