• Masako C | 3 Dec 2011, 13:55 My stay in Edinburgh I took a one-week course this November because I want to improve my English, especially speaking skill. I stayed at Rosanna’s house which is located in a good residential area in Edinburgh for a week. My teacher, Rosanna, and her children are all kind and friendly, and I had a great time during my stay. Edinburgh has a lot of places to go, so it was very good to spend the week both learning English and visiting many attractions in Edinburgh. After three-hour lessons in the morning, Rosanna and I went to the city center by bicycle and visited Edinburgh castle and the National Museum of Scotland, etc. She also took me to Arthur’s Seat (a hill near the city center) and a not well-known but beautiful garden near the hill. From the top of the hill, we can have a panoramic view of the city and the scenery was very nice. Conversations during these excursions were beneficial as well as her lessons. In addition, she took me to her son’s school concert. Students’ performance was very nice and it was very interesting to know a part of the UK’s school life.I really enjoyed my stay in Edinburgh and I found this course is a good way to learn English. I’m glad to have had this great opportunity. Thank you very much for everything, Rosanna!

I came to England to improve my English for my work and for my hobby. My hobby is flying. I’m from Italy. I had lessons three hours a day and at the end of the lessons my head was full. At the finish of the course I enjoyed my improvement. I used part of my free time to fly from Panshanger Aerodrome over St  Albans and the Olympic White Water Centre with Peter, Kate’s husband. We took a lot of photos.

  • Lucilla Santucci | 20 Nov 2011, 21:49 A week in Cardiff By Lucia and Lucilla
We stayed near Cardiff  with a really friendly family for a week in August 2011. They were very nice and welcoming; they allowed us to feel at home and helped us to improve our fluency. We enjoyed visiting the surroundings: Barry beach, Llantwit Major; Cardiff historical centre and harbour and we had very nice walks along the amazing cliffs. Kathy helped us to widen our vocabulary and our knowledge of daily common language. All was really enjoyable. We can recommend them to you if you can spend  only a short time to improve your English, you will appreciate your staying as precious.

  • Ana Torres | 1 Nov 2011, 00:27 My stay in Bath with Sarah Rees 2011. I stayed in Bath with the Rees family from May to June 2011.
They were all very nice and kind with me.
I enjoyed a lot the lessons with Sarah, it was very fun, interesting and I moved up from Upper Intermediate to Advanced very easily.
She showed me around Bath and we went to very interesting places like The Roman Baths, The Jane Austen Museum, The Georgian House and visited great places like Hay where we went to the Book Festival, Chichester, and Stonehenge (my favourite!).
I had an amazing time with Sarah and her family.
And Bath is a very beautiful and interesting place, it has a lot of places to go: museums, coffee shops, stores and nice parks where you can have relaxing walks and beautiful views.
I'd really like to go back to Bath someday and deffinitely stay with the Rees family again!
Thank you for your hospitality. I will never forget this amazing experience!!
    Love,
    Ana Torres.

  • Alvaro E | 20 Oct 2011, 12:58 My stay in Edinburgh with Rossana I´m going to talk about my staying in Edinburgh with living learning English in Rossana´s house. I arrived on Friday the 15th of June with my parents and I stayed in a hotel in the centre of Edinburgh and I visited some important and amazing places there on the weekend. The 17th of June Rossana picked us up from our hotel to her house. I stayed there one day putting my clothes in my wardrobe and watching some interesting English´s programmes on TV. With respect to my lessons I have done different grammar activities, some reading, listening, speaking exercises and two or three writings in order to prepare the First Certificate exam. During my staying in Edinburgh I have done some excursions like going to San Andrews with Rossana´s family, I went to a beach in a small and beautiful village near Edinburgh, and I also been to a mountain close to the city, and I have been in an Edinburgh tour with Rossana. I have done some different activities with Rossana´s children like going to the last Harry Potter´s film. In conclusion has been a very good experience and I had improved my English. Regarding the family environment I was so happy with them. Thank you so much to Rossana and the organization for help to me during the fifteen days in July.

  • Angela S | 20 Oct 2011, 11:55 A great stay in Bournemouth These last three weeks I’ve been living in Bournemouth. It is a peaceful village at the south of England, it has a beach, a shopping centre, cinemas... I’m a fifteen years Spanish girl and I’ve made a one-to-one course with the family Stocker, my teacher was Daniel. They live in a house in a big neighbourhood that has parks, schools, some shops like Tesco express... I can say the food is great. Maybe if you are not get used to eat vegetables and those things, it can seem too “healthy”, but anyway you can go out and eat at McDonalds. But then you will see that vegetables are better than you thought they were. Apart from the classes, we have done some activities to improve my English. I have watched a lot of films and TV series as well, and it really helps to learn some vocabulary and know how the people really speak (colloquial expressions). We also have gone for a walk a lot of times to practise my spoken English, like once we went to Poole’s park. I went to de swimming pool too. On Sunday, I went to a service at a church twice during my stay. I went with my friend Marta that was also doing a course here. Then we usually went shopping and had a walk down the town centre. In conclusion, I’ve had a good time here as I’ve also improved my English.

  • Chiara Pagnotta | 20 Oct 2011, 11:00 My Stay in Bristol My stay in Bristol (4 – 16 Sept) was an extraordinary experience for learning English and because of the human connection that has existed between my teacher, her family and me. My teacher had the great ability to never get bored and adapted the lessons to what I need and asked her. The lessons were funny and two-way. She has put a lot of patience and love in her work. The whole family (and their friends) were very positive and friendly and gave me the possibility to express myself and gave me lots of attention.   In my teacher’s house there was privacy for being quiet or studying and it was in a very good position, near the centre.   I felt comfortable and very happy!

  • Charles Nin and Pol Hernandez | 11 Oct 2011, 09:38 Fun in Dunbar learning English Hello, I'm Ines from Sevilla (Spain).I was in Dunbar, in Jackie's house. She has a nice house and her son is very friendly. We went to Glasgow and the Kelvingrove art museum, to Edinburgh to the musical Fringe Festival, we went to many harbours on the Scottish coast. I visited a farm shop. I also went to a Highland Games which was a lot al fun.  Some others students from Germany and Spain came to Jackie's house one evening for a pizza party.  I was in Dunbar for 3 weeks, but it's not a short time to learn English because you're speaking and listening all day, so you can see your improvement in 1 week.  Jackie took me to visit her friends so I heard a lot of everyday speech which is better than books!

Lessons were adjusted to my needs, everyday talkings helped me to understand my pronunciation mistakes. Also I had enough time to discover London on my own.   My teacher acompained me while sightseeing Tower of London, London Eye, London Bridge etc.

  • annie Robic | 4 Feb 2011, 21:55 One week in total immersion I come from France and I am not a teenager! (I am 48 years old). I needed to improve my English’s understanding and I chose an immersion stay. I stayed in Bristol in Lesley`s home for 1 week. I really enjoyed the days with her and her family.  Lesley’s family has been very kind to me and I have felt at home. Every morning I have had four hours of lessons and in the afternoon I visited the town of Bristol. Previously, I went twice in Bristol for my job and I knew already some of places of this town. This week, I have visited the boat Great Britain and the zoo. Even if animals from the zoo don’t speak English, I should you visiting this zoo. The prairie dogs are irresistible! In Bristol’s buses I found always somebody to help me for not missing the bus stop. People are friendlier in Bristol as Liverpool.  20 hours of course per week: I think that is the maximum  This week in total immersion with individual course has been more profitable than one month in a group course.

To improve my English with the help of "Living Learning English" was one of my best decisions in my life. The individual, one to one training was very good for me to improve my English knowledge. I also liked very much the various creation of the lessons.  Also the discussions with Sarah's husband and her two daughters helped me, to loss my inhibitions in speaking. In addition the sightseeing tour in Bath and the hiking tour around Bath made this week to an unforgettable time for me. Thank you very much Sarah !!!

  • Carlos R | 3 Sep 2010, 17:29 St Albans with Crickfamily I am leaving tomorrow in the morning. I have just been here for a week and it was the first time I have visited the UK, but it has been enough time to realise that I have really liked it. The family is really great, all of the members and very friendly. I have visited London twice, one day with Hannah and Claire to see Notting Hill Carnival ( it was really funny) and other day with Peter to see the most typical places in that town. I also went with Kate to Cambridge, and we saw most of the colleges, St Mary' s Tower and more places.  To sum up the trip, I think it's a great experience for everyone who wants to learn English. The food is good at least in this house, the opposite as my friends had told me in Spain and the house is really beautiful
